Waitsfield and Champlain Valley Telecom is once again exhibiting at the Vermont Business and Industry EXPO on Wednesday and Thursday, May 23 and 24, at the Sheraton Hotel and Conference Center in South Burlington. Show hours are Wednesday - 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Thursday - 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Be sure to stop by our booth to say hello or ask any questions you may have.

The 28th annual Vermont Business and Industry EXPO is Northern New England's largest business-to-business tradeshow featuring nearly 200 exhibitors. Approximately 3,000 business leaders attend this networking event during the two days. Entrance into the tradeshow and reception is free as long as you pre-register on or before May 18. WCVT Hosts Red Cross Blood Drive (3/21/12)

Waitsfield and Champlain Valley Telecom recently sponsored its annual spring Red Cross blood drive on Tuesday, March 20th at their main business office in Waitsfield, Vermont. According to Eric Haskin, Network Director for WCVT and event organizer, “The blood drive was a huge success with a total of 70 pints of blood being was collected. I would like to personally thank everyone who donated blood, or volunteered to help make the event a success.”

Lucky Winner of iPad Announced! (1/23/12)

Thank you to everyone who completed our annual Green Mountain Access customer satisfaction survey and congratulations to Cliff Mix of Ferrisburgh for winning the iPad. Cliff’s name was chosen at random from customers who completed the survey. The information we received was very helpful and we are now in the process of analyzing the results and making improvements based on your feedback. Children's Halloween Party In Bristol A Huge Success! (10/31/11)

Green Mountain Access/Waitsfield and Champlain Valley Telecom hosted their 6th annual children’s Halloween party on Friday, October 28th at the Bristol Elementary School. "Dux the Balloon Man" entertained the children with his balloon magic. Children also enjoyed face painting, games and making some spooktacular crafts.

Special thanks to the Bristol Elementary School for use of their space. Also many thanks to the Waitsfield and Champlain Valley Telecom employees who volunteered their time to assist with the event.

Waitsfield and Champlain Valley Telecom Receives $5.5 Million Broadband Stimulus Award (8/18/10)

The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) has awarded a $5,559,975 stimulus broadband grant and loan to Waitsfield and Champlain Valley Telecom to connect their most rural and remote customers to high speed fiber optic internet access. According to Gregg Haskin, President and CEO of Waitsfield and Champlain Valley Telecom, “We are very pleased to be receiving this broadband stimulus funding. It will go a long way towards making next generation broadband services available to the most rural parts of our service territory and expanding our fiber-to-the-home network in these areas.”

The project will extend a fiber-to-the-home network capable of delivering broadband speeds of up to 100Mbps to 1,385 residents in parts of Addison, Chittenden, and Washington Counties and take approximately three years to complete. These residents are amongst some of the hardest to reach and hardest to serve in the company’s territory.

The award is part of a $7.2 billion broadband investment that was included in the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act. The USDA Rural Utilities Service (RUS) was charged with awarding $2.5 billion of those funds to expand broadband access in rural America.

The Internet is a wonderful and powerful tool. As with all "power tools" bad things can happen if caution is not used.

We encourage parents to monitor usage and keep an open dialogue with their kids about the “not so nice” things they may encounter on the web.
