Conservation Fund Application Process
1) Requests for Conservation Funds are presented
in writing to the
chair of the Conservation Commission via the
application form. The town may set application deadline dates.
2) Proposed conservation projects must address
and support the
intended purpose and criteria of the acquisition
and perpetual protection of critical historical, agricultural, and natural
resources within the Town of Huntington. Refer to the document
Criteria for Use of Huntington's Conservation
Fund which have been created to assist this purpose. No single criterion
is intended to exclude a proposal from consideration.
3) Projects may include, but not be limited to,
outright purchase of land or structures, purchase of conservation easements,
critical resource improvements, and related expenses such as legal and consultant
fees, survey and evaluation costs, and other expenses associated with the
process of conservation.
4)Conservation Commission members will review
applications and make recommendations to the Selectboard regarding the appropriateness
and feasibility of proposed conservation projects.
5)Based on recommendations from the Conservation
Commission, the Selectboard will determine whether to proceed with consideration
of
proposed conservation projects.
6)A duly warned public meeting by the Selectboard
will be held to solicit community input regarding the conservation project(s)
selected.
7)The Selectboard will make the final determination
for
expenditures of Conservation Funds.
