The dance competition at the Quechee Scottish Festival will be held on Saturday, August 23, 2008. A copy of the 2008 competition registration brochure can be downloaded (Adobe Reader file). Registration fees for the competition only cover a small portion of our costs - we have several fundraisers to help support the dance competition. Lynn Murray has once again come through with a wonderful quilt. Raffle tickets are available from members of SAHDVT and at the festival. New to the competition this year will be the auctioning of a custom-made kilt by Nancy Chase. Trophy donations, purchasing medals, and ads in our program are other ways to help. Thanks for your support. See you on August 23rd!
Alison Chase will be competing in the United States Inter-Regional Highland Dance Championship in Denver, Colorado from July 16-20. Congratulations Alison!
A special celtic show is planned for Friday, June 27 at 7:00 P.M. in the Montpelier High School auditorium to support Alison's's travel expenses. Performers include uilleann piper Willie Fitzpatrick and friends, bagpipers, the St. Andrews Highland Dancers of Vermont and Irish step dancers. For more information email her dance teacher.

During the weekend of January 11 -13,
2008 the St. Johnsbury Academy hosted the second annual Caledonian
Ceilidh - a full weekend of Highland dancing with medal tests,
a competition, and workshops. It was a great success with over
forty dancers from Canada, New York and around New England entering
the competition, and a fair number of them taking medal tests
as well as participating in the workshops. We had a larger turnout
of dancers and spectators than the first year (so please continue
to spread the word for 2009!). This event was cosponsored by the
Graham Highlanders of St. Johnsbury and the St. Andrew's Highland
Dancers of Vermont. Congratulations to all of the competitors!
A huge thank you to the following SAHDVT members who helped with
the competition: Ceilidh Peden-Spear, Lindsay Breen, Rebecca Levaseur,
Nancy Chase, Kristin Kirkpatrick, Linda Rhodes, Ashley Davidson,
Derek Davidson, Zack Warshaw & Katie Bull. Extra special thank-you's
go to piper, Derek Davidson and Highland dance instructor, Heather
Morris - the Caledonian Ceilidh would have never even taken place
without the extreme commitments made by these two amazing individuals!
Thanks also to those who helped sponsor a trophy or medal set
for the competition.
Thank you all!
